Tom Marvolo Riddle was born a Half Blood on December 31, to Merope Gaunt and Tom Riddle Senior. Merope was a descendant from the Salazar Slytherin. Before he was even born Tom Riddle Senior left Merope Gaunt because he did not love her. Merope was feeding Tom a love potion for a long time to make Tom fall in love with her after her father and brother went to Azkaban for muggle torture. She had loved Tom for a long time, but never received the love back. When Merope was pregnant, she decided not to feed her husband anymore potion because she thought after so long maybe he would really love her. But she was wrong, after Tom Riddle was clear again he left her straight away. Merope gave birth at a orphanage very poor and hungry. She had to sell her only possession to stay alive, her locket from the Salazar Slytherin. Only getting a little of what was worth a lot, she died at the orphanage after naming her son. Tom Riddle was after his father and Marvolo was after her father. Tom grew up a very strange and handsome kid. He knew how to speak Parseltongue, the language of snakes. He once took two kids into a cave and performed something horrifying that they were silenced. He would steal other kid’s things and keep them as trophies. When Dumbledore came to welcome Tom into Hogwarts, Voldemort thought he would share some of the things that he could do. At first, Tom didn’t believe that he was a wizard, but when Dumbledore preformed a charm Tom was convinced. Tom had no money to buy anything for school. Dumbledore gave him a bag of money, but he didn’t even exchange a thank you. Dumbledore noticed that Tom thought he was so special that he didn’t like his common muggle name. Dumbledore also noticed that Tom could charm the people he wanted or sometimes be very demanding. Tom thought that his father was the one at Hogwarts because then his mom wouldn’t have died. At Hogwarts, almost immediately he was sorted into Slytherin. The following couple of years, Tom started surrounding himself with books, lists, anything he could find a name with Tom Riddle. But when he finally learned the truth, he dropped the name Tom forever. All he needed to go with was Marvolo, the name that proved that he was Slytherin’s heir.
