The Sorcerer’s Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series. This is the beginning of Harry’s years at Hogwarts. Harry first learns that he is a wizard from Hagrid the Half-Giant. They go to Diagon Alley and get all the supplies they need for Hogwarts and Harry goes on to Platform 9 3/4 at the train station. At first, he didn’t understand how to get on the train because there was no 3/4. He spotted the Weasley family and together they went through the magical barrier between platform 9 and 10. Harry and Ron became best friends on the train and they met the bossy Hermione Granger. At Hogwarts, the three were sorted into Gryffindor. At the beginning of the year, Harry became Seeker on the Quidditch team. Draco Malfoy got jealous that Harry had so many excuses to do so many things he wasn’t suppose to that he challenged him the a duel. Draco would never actually show up at the duel because he wanted Harry to get into trouble. Harry actually fell for it and that same night he found a three headed dog when he was trying to hide away from a professor. They later found out that it was protecting the Sorcerer’s Stone which allowed the drinker to become immortal and it can turn any metals into gold. They figured that Voldemort would be after such a power like that. They suspected Professor Snape the potions teacher to be helping the Dark Lord because he seemed so evil. For Christmas, Harry inherited a cloak of invisibility that he used to explore Hogwarts at night. One night, Harry found the Mirror of Erised and saw his whole family. When Dumbledore found out, he was not mad. But he explained that the mirror showed what a person deeply desired.  When they went through all the obstacles, Harry realized Professor Quirell was working with Voldemort. Harry saw the Mirror of Erised and was forced to look into it. He saw himself getting the Sorcerer’s Stone and he actually did. Voldemort was growing on the back of Quirell’s head. Voldemort ordered Quirell to kill Harry, but Quirell couldn’t touch him. Quirell was left to die and Dumbledore rescued him and told him why Harry wasn’t touchable. Quirell full of hatred couldn’t touch someone who was so loved.
